The primary goal of the Horizons Program is to challenge the unique needs of gifted children in a creative, enriched, and stimulating environment. We seek to develop each child's unique talents and potential while instilling in them a positive self-concept.
Program Goals
1. To provide learning experiences and activities for identified academically gifted students through both an integrated and differentiated curriculum.
2. To provide students with more complex and diverse systems of thought processes in successively higher stages of development.
3. To develop the individual's sense of self, his/her relationships to others, and the needs of society.
4. To develop student attitudes that foster the completion of self-selected tasks and the ability to take risks in the creative process.
5. To provide the means and criteria by which resources for the instruction of higher thought processes are available to classroom teachers.
